Passing through Nebraska.
No one ever told me were side streets along the highways to my dreams & on them are coffee shops in Nebraska. I left my running shoes outside to dry last night, and then I woke up to them soaking in the rain. Something is telling me to wear a red flannel button down mid-July & part of me wishes that it was October. We drove through America’s heartland & stopped to run through the forest for a while. Maybe someday we will find ourselves living where the leaves change to burnt versions my of favorite colors and I can gently wish my summers away like I used to. Until then, a little pumpkin spice & almond milk in my coffee will have to do.
